High safety standards

Safety at work is at all times a top priority for the oil and gas industry. It strives to constantly improve safety at work. Ideas and initiatives are continuously brought forward, tested and improved. At the annual meetings of the heads of offshore installations the accent lies always on safety and extensive use is made of case studies in improving current standards and anticipating future scenarios. The oil and gas sector also gives its full support to the Industry Day Initiative of the various branch organisations of the sector (IADC, IRO, NOGEPA and NVDO). The Industry Day Initiative targets the standardisation, uniformity, competence and healthy working culture at the place of work.

Work permit system

In 2003 the Dutch oil and gas industry initiated participation in the Deltalinqs work permit system. This covers personnel in the Rotterdam/Europoort industrial area and Dutch oil and gas companies. This cooperative approach has simplified and clarified things in particular for the many service companies that work for different NOGEPA members. 

The Deltalinqs/ NOGEPA work permit system comes with a task risk analysis (TRA) and training modules for both the permit to work (PtW) and the TRA itself. A condition is that everyone who signs a work permit must have followed appropriate training courses. Course material is available from info@deltalinqs.nl.

Installation maintenance and process safety 

Dutch oil and gas companies attach the greatest importance to keeping the oil and gas producing hardware in good condition and to operate it in a professional manner. Companies use various systems for the monitoring of the integrity of oil and gas installations and process safety. Key performance indicators have been developed for this purpose by individual NOGEPA members. NOGEPA members regularly share the latest and best know-how on techniques and applications with each other.
